There are some good judo events coming up nearby here in Texas and I wanted to let you all know about them.
- October 18th – The Go Shibata Memorial Judo Tournament will be held in College Station, hosted by the Texas A&M Judo team. Click here for more information. This will be a good medium size tournament, with probably about 300 competitors including kids and adults.
- Saturday, November 22nd – The Dallas Open will be held in Irving. Click here for more info.
- Sunday, November 23rd – The President’s Cup will be held in Irving. Click here for more info.
The Dallas Open and President’s Cup are two separate tournaments, but they are held on the same weekend at the same venue, one the day after another. They are both HUGE tournaments, with thousands of competitors from around the country and even some from Latin America and sometimes Asia and Europe. Since people travel from far away, they usually compete in both tournaments to get the most bang for the travel buck. This will be a great chance to see some high level judo live and in person!
Although none of our young judo team is ready to compete yet, I highly recommend going and watching.
